The Steering Committee for Career Expo 2008 has signed an agreement with Eventscom Bahrain, for the organisation, logistical support, and marketing of the three-day event.

Eventscom Bahrain is a local public relations and event management consultancy.

A non-profit annual event, Career Expo, will be held at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre from October 21 to 23.

Chairman of Career Expo 2008 Steering Committee Abdulelah Al Qassimi and Eventscom Bahrain Managing Director Zahra’a Taher signed an agreement.

Career Expo is being organised for the eighth time after a brief hiatus in 2006-7, under the patronage of Dr Majeed Al Alawi, Minister of Labour, and under the auspices of The National Society for Support of Education & Training (NSSET).

"The expo targets Bahraini secondary students, vocational students, jobseekers, parents and the community at large, in an effort to enhance Bahraini students and jobseekers understanding of the professional world, and to guide them in choosing/changing their careers; thereby enriching job prospects and the quality of the Bahraini workforce," the event organiser said.

Hundreds of applications were received at the 2005 Expo Job Fair, subsequently facilitating the nomination of almost 600 Career Expo attendees to go through the formal interview process for those jobs.

In addition to facilitating the job search process, the Expo: promotes careers in various fields; provides information about several occupations, and the educational and vocational requirements necessary to pursue them besides giving them training.-TradeArabia News Service
