Khalifa varsity and Intel sign MoU

Abu Dhabi, February 22, 2009

Khalifa University (Kustar), a leading institution for science, technology and research, has signed a MoU with Intel for an Advanced Technical Training program.

Under the MoU, both the faculty and students of Kustar will have access to high performance computing programs and training, reinforcing Intel’s commitment to providing advanced resources in the educational arena.

By supporting the development of 21st century skills through increased digital accessibility and literacy, Intel seeks to better prepare students for a more technology-based workforce.

“The partnership is founded on similar values that are in line with cultivating and applying the practical and social skills necessary for the modern knowledge economy,” said Dr Arif Al Hammadi, Kustar manager.

As part of the Intel Higher Education Program, Intel will work with Kustar to conduct technical training for interested students and faculty on multi-core programming and architecture, cluster tools, and parallel programming.

The collaborative effort also seeks to incorporate parallel computer programming and architecture into curricula and build an internship program into Intel R&D sites and Intel locations.

“ By initiating technical programs and providing advanced resources and tools to teachers and students alike, we are taking the necessary steps to ensure that the future workforce is well prepared for the knowledge economy,” stated Samir Al-Schamma, Intel general manager for the GCC.-TradeArabia News Service
