Gulf Air, Boeing in training pact
Manama

Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has launched several training programmes aimed at strengthening its in-house people skills in association with leading aircraft manufacturer Boeing Company.

As part of these initiatives, the many employees of the airline were trained in the last few weeks on need-specific courses such as line operations safety audit (LOSA) to enhance safety assurance and improve productivity, ramp error decision aid (REDA) that would help cutting down on direct and indirect costs due to ramp incidents/accidents and SMS implementation as required by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

Boeing’s support for training extends from focused technical classes to high level executive development courses.

The national carrier has also launched a dedicated corporate training and employee development website providing its staff access to numerous self-development tools as well as opportunities to register for suitable training courses - from soft skills to specialist technical training designed for aviation professionals - so that they can equip themselves with appropriate skills in tune with the industry needs.

“By recognising the importance of investing in our employees, Gulf Air conveys a firm belief that organisations simply cannot afford to compromise on staff development even in times of economic turmoil,” said Ismail Karimi Gulf Air deputy chief executive officer.

“These initiatives focused on developing the local Bahraini talent in the airline, reinforce our commitment to investing in the airlines future through our employees,” he added.

Gulf Air chief people officer Ahmed Al Banna said: “The association with Boeing Company to offer need-specific training courses, the launching of a dedicated website, and a number of other training initiatives put in place in recent months - all demonstrate our commitment to our employees.”

“These initiatives will help us bridge the skill-gaps at all levels and increase performance efficiency across the organization. Our ultimate aim is to build a very strong, talented and capable pool of employees, who will make Gulf Air an airline of choice and an employer of choice,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
