Manama, November 29, 2011

Four staff members of Bahrain’s national carrier Gulf Air, three of whom are Bahrainis, recently attended flight operations officer training.

Isa Hafedh Haji, Sadiq Ghuloom Al Bahar, and Shakir Al Bahrani attended the 89 day intensive training programme held at the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC) in Thailand.

The fourth member of staff, Souad Elhaimer attended the Federal Aviation Academy’s (FAA) flight operations officer training at Jeppesen Flight Training academy in Denver, US.

All four are currently working at Gulf Air’s Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) that controls and manages the “Day of Operation” and next two days’ flight schedule and disruptions at Gulf Air on a 24/7 basis. IOC is also responsible for joint Operational Control of all Gulf Air flights and initial crisis/incident management.

Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali congratulated the staff members and presented them with certificates and licenses.

In addition to managing the flight schedule and disruption, flight operations officers are also responsible for manning and maintaining complete and accurate records of aircraft movements, flight delays and any significant occurrences.

They are also responsible for managing the communications systems between ground and aircraft, providing information as required on a 24 hour basis, preparing special passenger information and maintaining and amending all legally required aviation documentation. – TradeArabia News Service
