Palestinian delegation visits Oman

Muscat, January 29, 2012

A high level delegation from Palestine, headed by Minister of Education and Higher Education, recently visited Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) as part of her visit to the Sultanate.

The Palestinian delegation headed by Lamis Mustafa Al Alami, was received by Hilal bin Hamad Al Hasani, chief executive officer of PEIE, and Mohamed bin Hamad Al Maskari, director general of Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM).

Al Hasani briefed the delegation on the history of the PEIE, its vision, main services, and academic system of colleges based in the KOM.

It was also introduced to the main services and facilities offered by the KOM for the companies operating in the information technology sector, and educational institutions.

The delegates discussed a number of possible strategic cooperation in a bid to promote and facilitate mutual economic and educational relationships between the Sultanate and Palestine through thriving academic exchange. Issues of skills transfer and knowledge sharing were also discussed.

“We aim to continue partnering with the Sultanate of Oman on innovative projects to help accelerate and develop academic exchange between the two countries. We aspire to open wider horizons of dialogues between Oman and Palestine especially in the areas of research and scholarships," Al Alami said.

The delegates visited the National Centre for Incubators, which was founded to encourage Omani youth and emerging companies to invest in information and communication technology, support start-up residents through guidance and experienced advice, and qualify a new generation of Omani entrepreneurs.

They also visited Oman Air and Infocomm offices, which are based in KOM. – TradeArabia News Service
