Manama, April 11, 2013

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) recently received an award for Excellence in Vocational Training and Development by Bahrain’s Ministry of Labour at a ceremony held at Crowne Plaza Bahrain.

The Minister of Labour and chairman of High Council for Vocational Training, Jameel bin Mohammed Al Humaidan presented the award to Alba’s senior manager for human resources & public relations, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Janahi; and manager for training & recruitment, Rawdha Salman Al Aradhi.

The award was given to companies who were involved in developing their own vocational training programme for Bahraini nationals that gave the companies exemption from paying levies to the Ministry of Labour, a statement from Alba said.

Abdul Rahman Mohammed Janahi, senior manager for human resources and public relations, Alba, said: “Investing in people provides the greatest growth opportunity for any organisation. Alba has taken this a step further and developed a systematic training programme for its Bahraini employees to underline its credentials as a flagship company of Bahrain.”

“Training programmes for Bahraini employees has always been an integral part of Alba’s operations throughout its history. Today, Alba ranks amongst the top ten aluminium producers in the world, and this has been accomplished primarily due to the hard work, loyalty and commitment of its Bahraini employees who comprise 87 per cent of the total workforce.”

Recently, Alba announced the graduation of 40 Bahraini trainees who successfully completed the Tamkeen supported vocational training programme.
