Dubai Courts inks deal with UK college

Dubai, May 26, 2013

The Dubai Courts has signed a deal with Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education, based at Dundee in  the United Kingdom, to strengthen co-operation between the two sides in the field of multiculturalism and leadership.

The MoU will enable members of Dubai Courts to participate in educational courses and programmes of the college.

The agreement was signed by Dr Ahmed Saeed Bin Hazeem, the director general of Dubai Courts, and Mirza Al-Sayegh, the chairman of the board of directors of Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education, at a ceremony held on Sunday at the Dubai Courts' headquarters.

Under the five-year agreement, both parties will collaborate in areas advancing the common aims of the two organisations and the common good. In particular, the collaboration is intended to promote the values of mutual understanding and multiculturalism, said a statement from Dubai Courts.

The two organisations will also utilise education as a means to advance their common aims and, in particular, through the participation of members of Dubai Courts in courses and programmes of the Al-Maktoum College, it stated.

The Al-Maktoum College will also provide training to the Dubai Courts to assist them with developing and delivering their services.

Areas in which the Al-Maktoum College may be able to offer such training – either through courses and programmes run by the College, or through bespoke training – are Multiculturalism, Globalisation and Muslim Societies, Development of the Muslim World, and Religion and (Practical) Ethics, said the statement.

Dr Saeed Bin Hazeem said Al-Maktoum College is one of the outstanding educational establishments, which offers special education and training on the most important and most prominent areas that are required in the contemporary global marketplace, as well as promoting understanding and tolerance among people, and the concept of living in peace and love.

He stressed that the programmes of the Al Maktoum College are compatible with the approach of the UAE leadership, which is keen to promote a regional and global environment of understanding and peace.

Al-Sayegh said the UK college is committed to extending bridges of co-operation to all organisations, bodies and departments in the UAE, and providing interested Emiratis with scientific materials and training courses in the College's field of specialisation.

"Al Maktoum College is looking forward to becoming a global hub recognised for scientific research in the field of Islamic Studies, especially since the sessions the college organises receive an academic recognition from the participating universities. In addition, its programmes and training courses gain trust, recognition and appreciation of officials in Scotland at the highest level," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
