EMC named ‘best place to work in Saudi’

Jeddah, September 1, 2014

EMC, a leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service, has been named ‘the best place to work in Saudi Arabia’ by the Great Place to World Institute.

The global research and management consultancy recognised the firm for creating a motivating, comfortable and engaging work environment in the kingdom, for its focused investments in employee development, and its fair and transparent reward and recognition programmes, said a statement.

It was further commended for its efforts to go above and beyond its employment obligations under the Saudi Arabia labour laws. The firm had introduced numerous platforms and initiatives such as ‘Technology Associates’ programme to recruit talented young Saudi Arabian nationals, enrol them in training programmes followed by technical mentorship programme, to guide them through the early stages of their careers.

Its ‘Academic Alliance Program’ reaches out to young nationals enrolled at leading universities across the kingdom and the larger region to equip these students with knowledge about the latest technologies and the skills needed to operate in the constantly changing environments of the future, at no cost to these students.

The Great Place to Work results are based on direct and confidential feedback from participating companies’ employees.

The annual benchmarking study – which assesses the level of credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie within an organisation – forms part of the world’s largest employee survey.

Two-thirds of the company’s score is based on confidential feedback from their employees, with an audit of management and HR practices by the institute, comprising the remainder of the score, under which EMC was ranked as the kingdom’s Best Place to work in.

The firm was also praised for its employee-centric HR practices that leverage easy-to-use tools and technologies to ensure HR services are available to all employees, 24x7, in addition to a dedicated on-site talent acquisition team, that plays a central role in identifying candidates that are a ‘great fit’ for EMC’s culture.

EMC in Saudi was also reported to have the top year-on-year improvement score across all EMC teams participating in Great Place to Work in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

It was also applauded for drawing the balance between high employee engagement, effective leadership and high-performance culture driving EMC’s business growth and customer satisfaction.

Mohamed Talaat, regional managing director of EMC in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Libya, said: “EMC is proud to be recognised as the #1 Great Place to Work in Saudi Arabia. This acknowledgement reflects our belief that our strength as an organisation lies in our people who are the main power to drive our leading technologies to help customers successfully undertake their IT Transformation journeys to remain relevant in the future.

“Our strategy is to build and maintain a family-driven culture that attracts the best talents in the kingdom and ensures they have a long-standing career path that will leverage their skills and passion. We look forward to continue on this successful journey together and I thank each one of our employees for their remarkable efforts and commitment to EMC.” - TradeArabia News Service
