RCSI Bahrain celebrates 10 years

MANAMA, September 9, 2014

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain) will celebrate its 10th anniversary in November.

As part of the celebrations, Dr Michael Brennan from the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in the US will give a keynote speech at the anniversary dinner which will be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on November 27.

Dr Brennan has a distinguished career in endocrinology and professionalism in healthcare.

RCSI Bahrain president, Professor Sameer Otoom said: “RCSI Bahrain’s 10th year anniversary is a tremendous milestone for the university. Throughout the first decade of RCSI Bahrain, results of the final examinations indicate that our students perform as well as their counterparts in RCSI Dublin.”

Prof Otoom has also announced a number of other plans to celebrate 10 years of providing healthcare education in Bahrain.

The university will officially open its $700,000 investment in sports facilities in October, which will include a new all-weather pitch and renovated sports and recreation centre. Other events will include an international food festival, and a number of student events, which will take place alongside Bahrain National Day in December and St Patricks Day next March.

The celebrations will come to a close at the sixth graduation ceremony next June when RCSI Bahrain will graduate its 1,000th student. – TradeArabia News Service
