New regulations...in line with programme restructuring process

Tamkeen sets new rules for career programme

MANAMA, December 2, 2014

Bahrain’s labour fund Tamkeen has laid out new systems and regulations for its career progression programme.

The programme is designed to enable business owners to address skill gaps of their Bahraini employees by offering high-quality training to build their professional capacities and supporting an increment in their salaries, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The new regulations are in line with Tamkeen's programme restructuring process, which is based on three key pillars - customer service, enhancing quality, and maximising impact.

The new regulations entail implementing firm measures on employees to attend the training courses, penalising employers who do not pay the agreed salary increases to employees who complete the programme, and ensuring adherence to the required standards by training service providers.

These measures collectively aim to ensure that the programme achieves its objectives.

"We conducted a comprehensive study to assess the performance and impact of the programme, and in light of the findings, firmer measures will be applied to improve the programme's performance as of yesterday," Tamkeen vice-president for human capital development Amal Al Kooheji said.

Launched in early 2007, the career progression programme has served more than 14,000 Bahraini employees from more than 280 enterprises, with a total budget of BD21 million ($54.9 million). - TradeArabia News Service
