New national award for youth work launched in Bahrain

MANAMA, February 19, 2015

A new national award for youth work has been launched in Bahrain.

The announcement was made yesterday (February 18) by National Assembly and parliament chairman Ahmed Al Mulla at the opening of the one-day Youth Parliamentary Forum, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

He unveiled plans for the Parliament Chairman Award for Youth Work at the event, which took place at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa.

Present were 180 representatives of government bodies, youth clubs and other centres.

“There has to be a strategy and a new direction for the empowerment of youth that parliament has to adapt and support,” said Al Mulla.

“For that we are here to announce the launch of the new award, which will see the parliament directing its efforts to the development and benefit of youth being honoured.

“The recommendations of the forum will be taken by us (MPs) for approval as a priority and referenced to the government for implementation.”

Present were parliament's two vice-chairmen and General Organisation for Youth and Sport president Hisham Al Jowder. - TradeArabia News Service
