GHEDEX to highlight affordable higher education

MUSCAT, April 16, 2015

Some of the affordable higher education destinations in Europe will be featured at an upcoming global higher education exhibition in Muscat, Oman.

GHEDEX 2015 will run from April 20 to22 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre. The event is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education and is organised by OITE Trade Fairs.

Destination Poland

Poland holds the fourth place in Europe in terms of higher education enrolments with almost half a million young people signing up at institutions each year. “Starting from the academic year 2015/2016, the University of Warsaw opens a new programme especially designed for Omani students – a Science Programme which will be featured at GHEDEX. It is intended to prepare the candidates from the Sultanate of Oman for undertaking natural science, technical and medical studies at Polish universities,” said Ewa Linek, Office for Student Affairs, University of Warsaw.

Destination Finland

Although Finland’s system of higher education is relatively young compared to some others in Europe, nine Finnish universities are featured in the QS World University Rankings 2014/15. JAMK University of Applied Sciences, participating at GHEDEX this year, shared details about their offering at the event.

“As the JAMK University of Applied Sciences is acting as a consortium of three different Finnish universities, our main product at GHEDEX is the Finnish teacher training programs for teachers and study advisers as well as English language educational programs,” said Mohammed Abioqa, R & D Manager, MoL, JAMK University of Applied Sciences.

Destination Cyprus

Cyprus is one of the top education investors in the EU, with nearly 7 per cent of the national GDP spent on education.

“Visitors at GHEDEX will have the opportunity to visit the Cypriot Pavilion and get information on Cyprus Higher Education, programs of study, scholarship schemes, etc,” said Andrie Phili, administrative officer, Department of Higher and Tertiary Education-Ministry of Education and Culture, Cyprus.

“The representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Cypriot Universities will be there to answer all your questions and most importantly to point out Why Cyprus is the ideal destination for international students,” she added.

Destination Turkey

Motivation for study in Turkey includes a cost effective good quality education, and opportunities for scholarships. The Turkish government has set a target of attracting 100,000 international students to the country by 2015.

“With over 26,000 students, Nigde University has international competitive capacity in fields of science, technology, art and sports,” said Prof Dr Murat ALP.

“The International Relations Office of Nigde University also offers some opportunities to international students, such as; attending Erasmus+ exchange programmes and Memorandum of Understanding programmes. We invite students to visit our stand at GHEDEX to know more.”

Premier European higher education universities from Austria, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Lithuania, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Turkey and the UK will offer varied international degree programmes and courses to students at GHEDEX 2015. – TradeArabia News Service
