Bahrain set to reopen hospitality school

MANAMA, April 30, 2015

Bahrain’s government has agreed to allocate a plot of land to reopen the hospitality school.

A new track will be launched for high school students wishing to specialise in the hospitality sector, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Specific Council for Training in Hospitality chairman Ebrahim Al Kooheji unveiled the plan in an interview with Bahrain News Agency.

He announced that a project would be launched within two months to improve the remuneration of Bahrainis working in the sector, pointing out that BD3 million have been already allocated to fund the scheme.

He revealed that the Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Ministry would draw the necessary engineering designs for the planned school and follow up the feasibility study.

Al Kooheji said that he expects the number of students who would graduate from the planned school with a two-year diploma in hospitality to top 500.

A specialised hospitality school opened in 1977 in Muharraq had attracted students from the GCC countries but it closed its doors in 1997. - TradeArabia News Service
