25 complete Tamkeen's hospitality programme

, August 10, 2015

Tamkeen, the organisation tasked with making Bahrain's private sector as the key driver of sustainable economic development, has announced that 25 Bahrainis have graduated from its hospitality training programme this year, held at the Westin Hotel.

The programme was launched in corporation with Sofitel, Westin and Le Meridien Bahrain. It aimed to provide candidates with skills to succeed in the tourism and hospitality industry via practical on-site training.

The training, launched in May, was provided by Third Wave International and the William Angliss Institute. Participants received training with content including situation responsiveness, customer care and teamwork communication amongst other skills needed by the sector in areas such as safety, reception, catering, operations and others.

Klaus Neifer, complex general manager of the Westin and Le Méridien Bahrain City Centre, commented: “As a result of the hospitality programme with Tamkeen, we have been able to employ Bahraini talent that have the skills and experience necessary to match the high standards required by the high-end hotel industry. These individuals will be absolutely critical in increasing the quality level of our operations and in ensuring the satisfaction of our guests.”

This is the second year that the hospitality training programme has been offered by Tamkeen. Last year’s programme was held at the Kempinski Hotel, and saw a total of 15 graduates, all of whom received employment opportunities at the hotel.  - TradeArabia News Service
