The Maersk Oil and Qatar Petroleum (MOQP) Challenge, a demanding five-stage, two-day corporate team-building event, is set to begin at the Sealine Resort in Doha on November 14.

Registration will soon close for the event with 20 teams already having signed up.

The annual challenge promotes the work of Action on Diabetes (AoD), a public-private partnership initiated and funded by Maersk Oil Qatar, which aims to raise awareness of diabetes, help those at risk to avoid it, and give people already living with diabetes advice on managing their health better.

“The MOQP Challenge is an intense, exciting and fun competition themed around the prevention and management of diabetes. It develops and promotes leadership, decision making, strategy and problem-solving skills whilst raising awareness and funds for diabetes,” said Lewis Affleck, managing director of Maersk Oil Qatar.

The challenge brings together teams from some of Qatar’s biggest and most established organisations and institutions from sectors such as automotive, health, energy and professional services. It consists of a set of challenges that will test their ability to work as team, think on their feet and act under pressure.

All money raised from registration fees will be donated to the Qatar Foundation’s Qatar Diabetes Association through the AoD partnership. This will be used to fund the fifteenth Al Bawasil Camp, a seven-day educational camp for children with diabetes from Qatar.

Last year's MOQP Challenge raised $110,000 for the work of the AoD campaign, taking the total raised to date to more than $300,000.

“This year’s challenge will include a greater focus on strategy and decision making to complement physical activities that include mountain biking and kayaking, in addition to stages that will involve problem solving under pressure, construction projects and desert navigation at night,” concluded Affleck.-TradeArabia News Service
