Bahrain awards key school maintenance deals

MANAMA, July 15, 2017

Bahrain authorities have awarded maintenance contracts for two boys schools - Al Wadi Elementary School for Boys and Sheikh Abdulla bin Isa Industrial Secondary School in the kingdom. The scope of work includes civil, mechanical and electrical works in addition to internal and external painting works.

In addition to this, the work also includes revamping of toilets, fixing doors and windows, replacing water and electricity extensions and health tools, replacing the old lights with the new LED lights and installing heat insulated windows to save energy, said a statement from the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

In coordination with the education ministry, it regularly follows-up the needs and requirements of schools in order to ensure the safety of the different buildings and facilities and support educational needs while maintaining the safety of those buildings, the statement added.

Raed Al Salah, the assistant undersecretary for corporate municipal services and the acting undersecretary for construction projects and maintenance at the ministry, visited both schools, which are included within the 2017 Government Schools Comprehensive Maintenance Project.

Al Salah was accompanied by building maintenance director Huda Mirza and a number of engineers from the ministry.

"The civil, mechanical and electrical works for Sheikh Abdulla school have been assigned to Saraya Contracting, while Al Wadi school for Boys contract has been given to Taras Global Contracting," said Al Salah.

Work is set to start this month and will be completed before the start of the upcoming school year, noted Al Salah.

Another 16 government schools located in various governorates will undergo maintenance, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
