Ooredoo, Outward Bound Oman in youth training drive

MUSCAT, August 17, 2017

Ooredoo, a top telecom provider in Oman, has partnered with the non-profit organisation Outward Bound Oman to sponsor two experiential training programmes for Shababiah customers and the company’s extended family.

The sessions will take place from September 11 to 14 and from 25 to 28 at Jebel Akhdar, taking participants out of their comfort zones to learn essential life-skills that will help support growth and drive human capacity development.

The first session will be exclusive to family and friends of Ooredoo Oman whereas the second will welcome Shababiah customers aged between 17 and 25. Participants are also required to be higher education graduates, trainees, prospective SME owners, working or unemployed students.  Attendees will be grouped into teams, with their programmes designed to teach them specific life-skills needs to boost employability, inspire them to launch their own businesses, and gain leadership qualities.

Raed Dawood, director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo, said: “We believe the youth of Oman deserve every opportunity to succeed and have consistently partnered with organisations who share that vision to champion social and economic development. This approach to development drove us to partner with Outward Bound Oman and introduce two new programmes tailored to boosting the long-term success of participants. Together, we are helping the next generation of leaders to unlock their full potential.”

The course will begin with ice-breaker sessions to help groups better operate as a team. On day 2, a six hour expedition will begin, followed by lunchtime discussions related to employability. For the day 3 expedition, participants can look forward to learning about the importance of work ethic, creating career goals and action plans for the future. The sessions will conclude with a final celebration honouring attendees for their commitment. – TradeArabia News Service
