Eaton clinches Kuwait University green lighting contract

KUWAIT CITY, July 24, 2019

Leading power management company Eaton said it has been awarded a key contract by Kuwait University to provide custom-designed, energy-efficient lighting solutions for its administration facility at Sabah Al Salem University City.

As part of the contract, Eaton will be working alongside its key partner Khabari International for the installation  of a range of luminaries including bespoke ‘Koble’, designed and manufactured by Eaton’s UK Doncaster plant.

Eaton’s electrical business is a global leader with expertise in power distribution and circuit protection; back-up power protection; control and automation; lighting and security; structural solutions and wiring devices; solutions for harsh and hazardous environments; and engineering services.

It is positioned through its global solutions to answer today’s most critical electrical power management challenges, said the company in a statement.

The administration facilities at Kuwait University will serve as the main gateway to the new campus.

Eaton's customised solution was tailored to the performance and effectiveness required by the project to complement the aesthetics of the building, mirroring the extensive double height senate chamber and class leading facilities.

This was encouraged by Eaton’s commitment of in-house testing using calibrated photometric equipment in real life conditions, a comprehensive warranty and technical support providing additional reassurance to source with confidence.

The seven buildings, including cultural and convocation hall, conference centre, university library, visitor centre and a grand mosque will house the chief administrative and ceremonial functions of the campus, serving the needs of a student population of 40,000, faculty, administrators and visitors.

Ashraf Yehia, the managing director of Eaton Middle East, said: "Our Koble luminaries are a perfect fit for this modern building, providing an ideal blend of energy-efficiency and performance to help illuminate the architectural elements of this impressive university campus."

"The project leverages efficient solutions for this campus which will be used by thousands of students daily, with lighting features that deliver exceptional light quality and uniformity to help enhance the buildings aesthetics," he added.

The administration building' is the tallest building on campus, incorporating state-of-the-art offices for the top administrators, president and secretaries at the university.

With custom-design luminaires, the 'Koble' bespoke solution was designed combining the existing portfolio with the customer's specification to create an aesthetically-pleasing ceiling luminaire, delivering uniform lighting with continuous mounting

The Sabah Al Salem University City is being masterplanned as one of the largest campuses in the world with world-class educational facilities equipped with most advanced teaching and learning resources.

Last year, Eaton was also awarded a multi-million-dollar contract to provide complete xEnergy LV systems, power distribution components and industrial control solutions for the prestigious administration facility. -TradeArabia News Service
