The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority on Sunday kicked off its recycling campaign at the QFC Tower by providing all offices in the building with specialised garbage bins for paper and plastic collection besides bio-degradable bags for the bins.
The QFC has constructed its own collection centre on their premises for waste to be recycled.
An agreement has also been signed with Al Suwaidi Paper Factory and Doha Plastic for the collection of the waste on a regular basis for recycling purposes.
'The QFC Authority adopted an environmental policy in 2007 to ensure that its staff and the firms it licenses are encouraged to behave in an environmentally enlightened and responsible way at work,' said a statement from the QFC Authority.
The details of the policy were included in the annual review of the QFC Authority for 2007 published in April, which is available at (www.qfc.com.qa) .
The QFC Authority’s environmental policy aims to bring the organization in line with international best practice.
It encompasses changes that can be implemented easily and cost effectively to improve environmental awareness and behavior within the workplace such as recycling, energy and resource saving.
The policy is reinforced in strategic areas of the QFC Tower by posters demonstrating the various aspects of good environmental behavior.
The implementation of this policy, and the commencement of the recycling programme, has created an important new dimension to the QFC Authority and demonstrated to all of its stakeholders the need to care for the environment and protect it for future generations, said the statement.-TradeArabia News Service
