The retail prices of some of the main food items have come down slightly at stores in Dubai and Abu Dhabi just in time for Ramadan, according to a government official, a report said.
Data from the Ministry of Economy which monitored supermarkets Carrefour, Union Cooperative Society and LuLu stores has revealed drop in food prices of fresh milk, eggs, cheese, white bread and cocoa, Masafi mineral water, Lebanese black olives, Indian onions, butter from Denmark and basmati rice from Pakistan.
Some food items registered a rise in price such as white flour and tomatoes from Jordan.
There was no information on prices of meat, chicken and fish this week.
