BT plans to invest Qatar e-health scheme

Doha, November 22, 2007

BT (British Telecom) has plans to invest in Qatar’s healthcare information technology (IT) sector, it was reported.

BT’s International Health advisory board has hold talks with Omani officials on how BT can help develop e-health systems in the sultanate.

“We have met with senior officials in the health sector. We are interested in fast-growing economies,” BT Global Services CEO Francois M Barrault said.

He was also optimistic on Qatar’s prospects as a whole and said he was impressed by what he had seen.

The delegation included BT Health president Dr Patrick O’Connell, a report in Peninsula newspaper said.
