Royal Med, a subsidiary of Royal Jet said it has signed a contract with the Abu Dhabi Health Authority to supply medevac services, after winning a tender process open to other private charter air services companies.
The international aero medical evacuation and repatriation services company has seen bookings for its medevac operations jump by around 40 per cent over the past year, to destinations as diverse as Europe, the Far-East, the Indian subcontinent, the US and other destinations within the Middle East.
The company, launched in May 2003 under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Chairman of Royal Jet, was the Middle East's first licensed, commercial medevac provider and continues to be the most successful such operator in the region.
To date over 1000 patients have been transferred by the company. The Royal Med team consists of 15 paramedics and intensive care nurses, as well as 10 doctors and consultants who specialise in neo-natal, paediatric and adult clinical disciplines. Its aircraft, which are equipped with intensive care facilities, are also fitted with a ventilator, an electrocardiogram and a neo-natal transport incubator.
To emphasise the company's reputation as market leader Royal Med's medical director, Dr Frank Porter has been invited to address major conferences in the coming months, all with strong governmental support.
He will be addressing the Abu Dhabi Emergency Congress this month, where Royal Med will also be exhibiting; and the Dubai Air Medical and Rescue Show, which runs alongside the Dubai Helishow in November 2008, where Dr Porter will be talking about the challenges inherent in aeromedical evacuation and about some of the latest techniques.
"Royal Med is continuing to see a healthy rise in new business, despite new competitors entering the market," said Royal Jet's president & CEO Shane O'Hare, adding "and this reaffirmation from the Abu Dhabi Health Authority of their confidence in our services follows the high number of successful missions we have carried out on their behalf.
"We are one of the preferred providers for the armed forces, government health authorities and a number of medical insurance companies, but we are also signing up yet more private individuals, hospitals and embassies, who appreciate the fact that we can offer the most advanced management in transporting patients requiring international medical evacuation to most destinations worldwide with the minimum of fuss and with a very rapid reaction time.
"It is no exaggeration to say that Royal Med is the most established and reputable aeromedical evacuation service in the entire region and we are continuing to maintain the lion’s share of the business. Every one of our missions has been completed successfully and our track record is second to none," O'Hare concluded. - TradeArabia News Service
