Muscat Private Hospital unveils new service

Muscat, February 16, 2009

Muscat Private Hospital, a premier private hospital, has launched paediatric endocrinology services, which offer paediatric health care services to children with endocrine problems in a specialised paediatric care facility.

Paediatric endocrinology deals with endocrine-related conditions in children, including type1 and type2 diabetes, growth disorders, obesity, thyroid, adrenal and pituitary gland disorders, problems of puberty, hypoglycaemia, calcium and metabolic bone disease, sexual ambiguity and menstrual disorders, endocrine tumours and other conditions related to hormones.

Headed by Dr Hala al Shaikh, a senior consultant paediatric endocrinologist, the department offers care for patients from infancy to late adolescence.

'The paediatric endocrine clinic offers diagnostic laboratory and radiology services in addition to clinical and treatment facilities, ensuring that children with endocrine disorders grow up healthy and strong,' stated Gary Dorahy, OMPC and hospital director, Muscat Private Hospital.

'In addition, an Insulin Pump Program is available for diabetic children who would benefit from this modality of treatment, which is known to improve glucose control and improve quality of life,' he added.

Muscat Private Hospital, strategically located in Baushar, provides first-class out-patient and in-patient facilities and all the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of an acute care hospital, including CT and MRI. The hospital is the first facility in Oman to provide cardiac surgery services.

The hospital is managed by UME Group, an international hospital management group with more than 27 years experience in the Middle East and the UK.-TradeArabia News Service
