IBM showcases ‘smart’ know-how at Arab Health
Dubai

IBM showcased its smart and innovative approaches to modernise the healthcare industry during the recently concluded Arab Health Conference, the Middle East’s largest gathering of healthcare professionals.

On show were their latest solutions and services designed to improve patient healthcare across the region, meeting the rapidly changing demands of the industry.

“IBM is committed to creating smart systems that will enable healthcare organizations to meet the ever increasing challenges of the rapidly growing industry across the region,” said Takreem El-Tohamy, general manager IBM Mena.

“A smart healthcare system that is instrumented, interconnected and intelligent means healthcare organizations will benefit from real-time information, shared efficiently between doctors, patients and insurers, through the application of collaboration technologies and smart analytics,” he added.

IBM highlighted their clinical and transformation business practices, experiences and results of solution implementation, as well as showcased the innovative products and solutions, which included:

Hospital bedside terminal - This system enables doctors and nurses to retrieve and display medical records and digital radiology images at the patients' bedside, while patients can use it to access entertainment and Internet services, or speak to nurses on duty via the video-call feature.

Patient centric healthcare - An electronic health record system that refers to a medical record in digital format. Accessed on a computer network, EHR may be made up of electronic medical records (EMRs) from many locations or sources. Data stored can include patient demographics and medical history, medicine and allergy lists, laboratory test results including radiology images, billing records and advanced directives.

“These innovations will not only allow healthcare organisations to share information in real time with ease of access but they go as far as improving research, diagnosis and treatments” Takreem El-Tohamy said.

“The industry find itself at a critical stage with increased costs of healthcare becoming prohibitive to many patients, IBMs technologies and services enable organizations to become more efficient and cost effective, thus streamlining their organizational processes and becoming smarter entities offering the highest level of care,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
