Hundreds donate blood at Carrefour drive

Dubai, July 1, 2012

Hundreds of people gathered at Carrefour’s Century Mall hypermarket in Dubai’s Al Mimzar area recently to support the Ministry of Health’s latest blood donation drive.

Residents were able to donate blood in a specialised vehicle as part of the hypermarket’s ongoing support of the Ministry of Health’s blood donation campaign.

Henry Changeux, GCC country head of Carrefour, said: “With the summer heat approaching and many residents jetting off on their holidays, there is a concern that much needed supplies from those who regularly donate blood could be diminished. Giving blood is a selfless act that really does make a difference and saves lives. It was truly heartening to see so many generous people in Dubai donating blood and we are delighted to be working with the Ministry of Health to make the process as straightforward and convenient as possible for donors.”

The Majid Al Futtaim group first introduced the Carrefour model to the Middle East in 1995. There are currently 18 Carrefour hypermarkets and 20 Carrefour markets in UAE. – TradeArabia News Service
