Bahrain to launch major water savings plan

Manama, November 13, 2013

Bahrain is embarking on an ambitious plan to optimise water resources and rationalise consumption, which aims to save up to 10 million gallons of water a year, a report said.

The Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) is leading the effort, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

EWA chief executive Shaikh Nawaf bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa unveiled the plan as he addressed an arbitration session held by the Bahrain Centre for Excellence.

Minister of State for Implementation Mohammed Al Mutawa and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Lieutenant-General Dr Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa attended. Shaikh Nawaf outlined the waste management initiative, stressing the importance of mending water leaks quickly to optimise resources and save money. – TradeArabia News Service
