Bahrain 'free of Mers coronavirus'

Bahrain is free of Mers coronavirus, a national committee set up to prepare a strategy to face a possible outbreak of the deadly virus heard yesterday.

At an urgent meeting, chaired by Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Aisha Bu Unq, it reviewed measures taken by the ministry to combat the virus, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Experts have examined 211 samples from May until the end of November and found them negative. The meeting came up with several  recommendations, including a suggestion to draw up unified GCC guidelines to combat the threat of the virus. - TradeArabia News Service
