Conference to focus on HSE issues
Dubai, December 17, 2013
An operational health safety conference is set to look into achieving an improved level of HSE performance across various industries.
The third annual 'Middle East OHS Strategy Summit' will take place in Al Khobar from April 7 to 9, under the theme ‘Prevention through Protection,’ said a statement from Fleming Gulf, the organiser.
Globalisation has brought in new opportunities for industries, accompanied by emerging risks and challenges for workers, said the organisers citing a recent report.
The ILO pointed out that about 2.02 million people die each year from work-related diseases and 321,000 people die each year from occupational accidents.
Although there has been a decline in traditional risks and steps have been taken to minimise occupational diseases, prevention is the key for achieving goal zero, it stated.
The conference will address issues on how to improve conformance check and establish quality HSE managements systems, to prevent occupational accidents and diseases in industries like oil and gas, petrochemical, mining and construction, said the organisers.
It will focus on key topics such as preventing heat-related illness, coping with health challenges for expatriate and learning the art of sickness absence management, they added. - TradeArabia News Service
