Bahrain to open new health centre for disabled

Bahrain is set to open a new BD1 million ($2.63 million) centre for disabled which will feature several specialised clinics for dental, diagnosis and physiotherapy.

The Abdulla Kanoo Diagnosis and Disability Evaluation Centre will open on June 16 in Aali.

"The functional facility, which covers 1,636 sq m has cost up to BD1 million," said Social Development Minister Dr Fatima Al Balooshi as she inspected the centre.

Chairing a meeting, Dr Al Balooshi, in the presence of Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Aisha Bu'unq, paid tribute to the government for allocating three hectares to construct the complex.

The project includes 11 buildings for different purposes such as evaluation and guidance, physiotherapy, Sharifa Kanoo Autism Centre, a multi-disability care, psychological and family guidance centre, brain damage centre, health club, Down's Syndrome centre, learning and training resources, administrative buildings, private clinic, medical testing lab and a centre to showcase products.-TradeArabia News Service
