Oman malls test 400 women for heart disease

Muscat, July 8, 2014

City Centre Muscat and City Centre Qurum, leading shopping malls in Muscat, recently conducted complimentary heart health testing for more than 400 women over a span of two weekends.

The drive was part of a global awareness campaign called Go Red for Women and supported in the region by Majid Al Futtaim, a leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across Mena.

This marks the second year that City Centre malls have hosted this worthy campaign, with the aim to raise the red flag on cardiovascular disease.

Over the course of two weekends at City Centre malls, medical professionals from the Medical Simulation Centre, Oman conducted a series of tests including blood pressure, blood sugar, Body Mass Index (BMI), and cholesterol rate in addition to providing advice on how to prevent the risk of cardiovascular disease through nutrition and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

The team also trained more than 425 visitors on how to do Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save the life of a person who is in cardiac arrest.

First introduced by the City Centre malls to the Sultanate, ‘Go Red for Women’ is a global campaign founded by American Heart Association and supported by Majid Al Futtaim in the Middle East. This year, 13 shopping malls in five nations - Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon and the UAE - made this the largest health-related sustainability initiative by Majid Al Futtaim. – TradeArabia News Service
