DHA forms medical practices committee

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has formed of a ‘Medical Practices Committee’ that will look into the working of all non-governmental health facilities and professionals in Dubai, including all free zones but excluding Dubai Healthcare City Authority, said Jassim Mohammed Al Awadi, acting director-general of DHA.

The aim of the committee is to ensure high quality health services are being provided to the population of Dubai and that all facilities and professionals follow the necessary protocols and regulations to achieve this, a statement said.

The committee, chaired by Dr Mamoun Al Marzouqi, shall regulate the practice of medical professionals in accordance to the Executive Council Resolution No 32 of 2012. In case of medical malpractice, the committee will impose penalties in line with the resolution, it said.

The committee shall undertake several tasks including review of medical professional practicing rules, conditions of healthcare practitioners and facilities in Dubai etc., the statement said.

Members of the committee will meet once a month for a year, after which the committee will be re-formed, it said. – TradeArabia News Service
