Masdar’s role in renewable energy in focus
Abu Dhabi, August 25, 2014
Masdar’s role in the development and deployment of renewable energy and clean technology in the UAE and globally was the focus of a briefing to US Congressional delegates recently.
The delegation of eight representatives from the US Congress visited Masdar City as part of trip to the UAE to take part in an educational and cultural exchange, said a statement.
The delegation led by US Congresswoman and Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus Rep Marcia L Fudge, attended official government meetings and also met with senior executives and researchers at Masdar, it said.
The representatives were also informed of social, environmental and economic value-driven developments within Masdar City and its role in pioneering a ‘greenprint’ for how cities can accommodate rapid urbanisation and dramatically reduce energy, water and waste.
On a visit to Masdar City, the delegation was guided on a tour of the research laboratories with Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, the academic research arm of Masdar.
The tour concluded with an overview of how the Institute Research Centers (iCenters) at Masdar Institute are designed to drive the development of new technologies and build human capital for the direct benefit of the UAE and the region. - TradeArabia News Service
