New Bahrain health plan on overseas treatment

MANAMA, September 8, 2014

Bahraini patients could soon be spared the pain of travelling abroad for medical treatment.

Under a new health plan, they would be provided all the therapeutic care they need at home, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Chairing the weekly Cabinet meeting, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa directed health authorities to hire world-class specialists to treat difficult or incurable cases at home.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, attended the session.

"A high committee will be set up to unify rules and regulations for overseas treatment", Cabinet secretary-general Dr Yasser bin Essa Al Naser said.

The measures will be drawn up in co-operation with the Health Ministry, the BDF Hospital and the King Hamad University Hospital.

The newly-established High Committee for Overseas Treatment will be under the authority of the Supreme Council for Health. - TradeArabia News Service
