More than 200,000 babies born in the hospital

Corniche Hospital marks 30 years in service

ABU DHABI, October 6, 2014

Abu Dhabi’s Corniche Hospital celebrated its 30th anniversary of its existing hospital building at a ceremony recently.

The hospital, however, existed in another building since 1977, said Dr Mariam Al Mazrouei, deputy CEO and COO, pointing out that it was more than three decades old.

It moved to a new customised building in 1984, which soon became the birthplace for generations, with more than 200,000 babies having been born in it since then, said a statement.

The event was attended by Reem Al Falasy representative from the Supreme Council on Motherhood and Childhood, Dr MahaBarakat, director general of the Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and Dr Matar Rashed Al Darmaki, CEO of Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) and the leadership team of Corniche Hospital.

“I would like express my gratitude to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, chairwoman of the General Women's Union '&' Family Development Foundation and president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood & Childhood for her unwavering support since the inception of the hospital. We are extremely grateful to her Highness for extending her support in this celebration.

“Corniche Hospital has not only witnessed birth of many of leaders and citizens and it is also the birthplace of thousands of babies from different nationalities.  This celebration is a moment to step back and reflect on this wonderful journey of watching generations grow.”

As many as 15 long-serving staff members were honoured with certificates of appreciation and mementos, for their tireless dedication and contribution, said the statement.

Corniche Hospital is owned and operated by Seha, which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics of Abu Dhabi. - TradeArabia News Service
