Emergency medicine experts to convene in Dubai

DUBAI, December 2, 2014

Emergency medicine experts are set to gather in Dubai, UAE at a conference to promote its development in the Middle East.

The annual Scientific Conference of the Emirates Society of Emergency Medicine (ESEM) 2014, under the theme ‘The First Hour Belongs to Us,’ will run from December 5 to 9 at the Conrad Hotel.

The theme reflects the necessity of building and empowering the emergency medicine providers with a skill set that saves lives during the very critical first hour of their illness.

The conference will cover a wide range of multidisciplinary topics and pre conference workshops focusing on enhancing emergency related procedures.

Research related workshop and tracks have been developed for laying the ground work for developing future interesting studies in Emergency Medicine.

It is being organised in collaboration with the International Federation for Emergency Medicine, the European Society for Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Medicine.

Emergency Medicine in the UAE under the direction ESEM is aiming towards development which will serve as a role model for the region.

ESEM recognises the need of knowledge and skills that will be required by the emergency medical care providers, to attain this futuristic goal.

Dr Ayesha Almemari, ESEM general secretary, said: "ESEM 2014 is considered to be the largest ever regional gathering of emergency medicine professionals in the middle east, with more than 100 local, regional and world-renowned experts taking part in an extensive scientific educational programme.

"The conference will include a two-day of pre-conference workshops and a three-day conference featuring parallel tracks of multidisciplinary sessions on the latest innovation, advances, technology, issues and challenges in emergency medicine."

More than 600 delegates from diverse backgrounds including emergency medicine providers, medical directors, nurses and other hospital professionals who have common interest of collaborating and sharing their emergency medicine knowledge, representing the region are expected to attend.

Dr Mahmud Ghaniem, ESEM vice president, Chair Emergency Medicine Department Dubai Hospital, said: "Since the foundation of ESEM, the emergency medicine community has come together to support a series of very successful milestones in the development of emergency medicine.
