GE Healthcare to unveil latest medical technology
DUBAI, December 23, 2014
GE Healthcare is set to showcase some of its latest medical technology at a premier healthcare conference in Dubai, UAE, next month.
The 40th Arab Health Exhibition and Congress, under the theme of ‘Advancing Healthcare Together,’ will run from January 26 to 29.
By 2030, almost 80 per cent of mortalities in the Middle East are forecast to result from non-communicable diseases. With growing rates of cardiovascular and oncological diseases placing significant burden on the region's healthcare systems, optimising system efficiencies while increasing productivity and costs, rank among the key priorities.
To address this, GE Healthcare is partnering with the region's governments and private healthcare providers to increase access to quality and affordable healthcare for the Middle East.
For GE, its contribution towards sustainable health is delivered through a commitment to innovative its technologies, services and offerings and focus on capacity building and localisation.
Maher Abouzeid, president and chief executive officer of GE Healthcare for Turkey and the Middle East, said: “The increasing incidence of lifestyle diseases and population growth in the GCC has caused healthcare expenditure to increase by 10 per cent per year over the last five years. Total healthcare expenditure is now expected to be over $130 billion in 2018.
“To help cater for the increase in non-communicable diseases and to improve the quality of healthcare whilst bringing costs down, there is greater emphasis from governments to partner with companies that can provide complete solutions that deliver better outcomes, one of the core priorities of GE Healthcare.”
The event will focus on helping to deliver customer-oriented solutions that enable caregivers to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance diagnostic competencies, and potentially reduce healthcare expenditure through timely treatment.
GE’s innovations will span multiple care settings from radiology to oncology and cardiology, from woman and child health to critical care and the operating room.
The new product innovations include the Voluson E10, a new 4D high-performance ultrasound system; the Signa Pioneer with MAGiC, an MR system designed to enable clinicians to scan one more patient, every hour, every day; the CareScape R860, an intuitive critical care ventilator which uses advanced lung protection tools and an innovative user interface; and the Discovery IGS 740, a mobile angiography system.
GE Healthcare will also unveil for the first time the ‘GE Arab Health’ mobile app to help visitors navigate their way through the new technologies GE is presenting at Arab Health 2015.
The app uses geo-targeting to deliver content about GE’s products and solutions to the mobile app user based on his/her location on the booth. - TradeArabia News Service
