TVM Capital Healthcare opens offices in Beirut, Boston

DUBAI, February 3, 2015

TVM Capital Healthcare Partners, a specialist private equity company investing in the Middle East, North Africa and India, has opened offices in the US and Lebanon to strengthen its partnerships with healthcare providers and increase its research capabilities.

The firm has alliances with US-based strategic partners to deliver internationally recognised excellence in specialist patient care at its portfolio companies, said a statement.

These include Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital and Joslin Diabetes Center, a non-profit institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School that is a leader in diabetes research, clinical care and education.

The Boston office of TVM Capital Healthcare Partners has been established to provide a framework for the company’s growing network in and around Boston, and will be a hub for building relationships with academic centres and strategic partners.

Dr Nadeem Alduaj has been appointed as physician advisor in the office, and brings deep medical and clinical knowledge, and a strong understanding of operating in the Arab world.

Moreover, the new office in Beirut will provide the firm with a wide range of operational and strategic advisory services across all areas of investment.

Ghida Harfouche has been appointed to lead the research function from the office.

Dr Helmut Schuehsler, chairman and chief executive officer of TVM Capital Healthcare Partners, said: “TVM Capital Healthcare sets itself apart in the Mena region not only because we have a deep understanding of the healthcare challenges, but also because of the strength of our partnerships with world-class medical experts from around the world.

“Opening an office in Boston enables closer and deeper liaison with partners Spaulding and Joslin while creating new academic relationships and strategic partnerships.

“Our new office in Beirut brings additional core research expertise to the team. We will concentrate on developing strategies for building existing portfolio businesses, performing rigorous due diligence on potential future investments and identifying global and regional partners. We are thrilled to welcome Alduaj and Harfouche to the team as seasoned professionals in healthcare consultancy and research.”

Dr Alduajj is currently associate chief of Emergency Medicine at BID Hospital in Milton, Massachusetts, and Takemi Fellow at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health. He also serves as president of SAHA Institute, a start-up global health policy think-and-do tank serving the Arab world.

Harfouche joins the Beirut office with extensive previous consulting and research experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. Most recently she served as a senior strategy consultant for Stem-Pharma, a role which involved assessing investment opportunities and conducting M&A analyses and feasibility studies in relation to developing new healthcare verticals. - TradeArabia News Service
