Bin Shafar ... support for green economy
Empower to sponsor green economy report
DUBAI, May 13, 2015
Empower, the world’s largest district cooling services provider, has announced its support for the coming State of Green Economy Report as platinum sponsor.
Issued by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, the report is set to be published with the 6th Climate Week NYC event that will be held in New York in September.
“Over the last forty years, the United Arab Emirates has grown from humble beginnings to an emerging economic powerhouse,” said Ahmad Bin Shafar, chief executive officer of Empower.
“It has now become crucial to accelerate the move towards green economy by diversifying energy sources and focusing on clean and renewable energy. This is the vision that UAE and Dubai are pursuing and Empower is supporting by promoting district cooling as an alternative to conventional chilling, reducing dependence on fossil fuel.
“With the UAE leadership designating 2015 as ‘the Year of Innovation’ and an initiative such as the State of Green Economy Report, the good news is that the country is already well on its way to evolving into a dynamic and innovative economy,” he added.
The State of Green Economy Report illustrates the milestones and recent development in Dubai’s energy sector. The 2016 edition targets stakeholders in government, energy, real estate and business, focusing on strategies that benefit the economy, the environment and employment.
“With the challenges associated with energy prices and climate change, there are also opportunities. Necessity, after all, is the mother of all invention,” continued Bin Shafar. “Energy efficient technologies, like we use at Empower, represent an ideal solution to conserving energy that is consumed on cooling,”
“Because Dubai’s drive towards building a sustainable economy is so close to the values of Empower, we are proud to contribute to the State of Green Economy report 2016. Initiatives like this one ensure that stakeholders work together to create safe, accessible and sustainable energy for all,” he concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
