DIP marks World Environment Day in style

DUBAI, June 6, 2015

Dubai Investments Park (DIP), a one-of-its-kind integrated commercial, industrial and residential community in Middle East, has announced a new initiative to plant over 10,000 trees and shrubs to coincide with the World Environment Day (June 5).

Reinforcing its commitment to a greener environment, Dubai Investments Park (DIP) said the plantation drive will be focused on two roads – A4 and B2 in DIP-1.

The plantation includes Delonix Regia, Conocarpus, Azadirachta Indica and Neem trees, as also Bougainvillea, Clerodendron & Vitex shrubs, which will absorb hundreds of tonnes of carbon dioxide from atmosphere annually, making DIP a greener and better place to live.
The first sapling as part of this initiative was planted by Omar Al Mesmar, the general manager of DIP, at a special ceremony onsite.
Saeed Bugaraah, the chief operating officer, said: "Since its inception, DIP remains committed to sustainable practices that benefit the community and has contributed to profound and lasting change through tree planting initiatives."

DIP, he stated, was also one of the green zones in Dubai, with over 20,000 trees planted along the common areas and gated communities within the development, besides landscaping along 70km of road side.
“The initiative is not only aimed at enhancing the DIP community spaces, but also raise awareness about the importance of conservation and reinforce that small steps can achieve big results. One large tree can supply a day’s supply of oxygen for four people – imagine the benefits of such a plantation drive,” he added.
DIP said it has conscientiously endeavored to establish green development and a balanced environment for residents and enterprises within its sprawling mixed-use development.

It is mandatory for DIP business clients to landscape between 10-20 per cent of their plot areas, said Bugaraah.
"Over the last 10 years, DIP has recycled over 51 million cu m of waste water and reduced over 1.25 million tonnes of carbon dioxide through its energy-efficient sustainability programme," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
