UDC backs traffic medicine, road safety conference

United Development Company (UDC), a leading Qatari shareholding company and master developer of The Pearl-Qatar, has backed the 24th World ITMA Congress on Traffic Medicine and Road Safety as the silver sponsor.
 
The conference will run from November 16 to 18 at the Sheraton Doha Hotel.
 
Organised by the Ministry of Interior and represented by the National Committee for Traffic Safety in collaboration with the World Organization for Traffic Medicine, the conference is set to discuss issues related to emergency medical services enabling legislation, regulations and awareness programs as well as the technical measures required to achieve proper road safety administration.
 
Ibrahim Jassem Al-Othman, UDC president and chief executive officer said: "The ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the National Committee for Traffic Safety is in line with our vision and our commitment to support Qatar's National Traffic Safety objectives and to enhance public safety on Qatar’s roads.

The sponsorship deal was signed by Brigadier Muhammad Abdullah Al-Maliki, secretary of the National Traffic Safety Committee and the chairman of the Organizing Committee, and Hussain Akbar Al-Baker, UDC acting director of Marketing and Communication, during a press conference held at the company's headquarters in West Bay, Doha.
 
“This international congress will focus on the progress in traffic safety and traffic injury prevention and treatment in recent years, and will bring famous traffic medicine experts together to share the most advanced traffic medicine concepts, theories and techniques in order to promote traffic crash prevention, traffic safety, first-aid medical treatment, and accordingly reduce the mortality and disability resulting from traffic injury and to subsequently raise the road user's health standard and the quality of life,” said Brigadier Al-Maliki.
 
The conference will bring together, under one umbrella, several international experts in the field of traffic medicine to share and exchange views on the latest concepts developed in the first aid and medical treatment, and also elaborates on roles that would lead to make enormous contributions to the field of traffic medicine.
 
Special workshops will also be held on November 15 and will cover traffic accidents related to youth. The congress has been divided into four sections including: engineering and traffic safety, social media, law enforcement and health and pro-accident handling. - TradeArabia News Service
