DHA’s 24-hour centres receive over 313,000 patients

DUBAI, November 19, 2015

The Dubai Health Authority's (DHA) 24-hour health centres have received more than 313,000 patients until October this year, according to a top DHA official.

The two centres - Nad Al Hamar and Al Barsha serve a population of over 60,000 residents each, said a statement.

Dr Manal Al Taryam, chief executive officer of Primary Healthcare at the DHA, said: “The aim of the 24 hours service is to provide patients with access to healthcare and reduce the pressure of non-urgent medical cases that the DHA hospitals emergency departments receive.

"From January to October this year, both the centres have functioned round-the-clock on all days including public holidays.  The Nad Al Hamar health centre has received 154,049 outpatients and the Al Barsha Health Centre has received 159,201 outpatients.”

The aim of these centres is to enhance patient access to medical services and that this is in line with the DHA’s strategy to ensure easy access to efficient healthcare, said the statement.

In terms of the functioning of both centres, Al Taryam said that in addition to offering family medicine services, the centres have several specialised clinics which aim to provide primary healthcare services in line with international standards.

The specialties at the centres include family medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, dermatology, nutrition, dentistry, chronic diseases, pre-martial testing, pharmaceutical services, and intermediate level urgent cases, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
