Emerson to help Dubai villas cut waste by 40pc

DUBAI, November 21, 2015

InSinkErator, a business unit of Emerson, the inventor and the world's largest manufacturer of food waste disposers for home and commercial use, said it has deployed its waste disposal solutions at more than 500 villas at the Sustainable City project being promoted by Diamond Developers in Dubai, UAE.

Spread over a total area of 5 million sq ft and shaped with the support and under the direct supervision of the Dubai Land Department, the Sustainable City meets the highest standards of Dubai Municipality green building codes, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa).

Employing 100 per cent water and waste recycling and a 10 MW peak solar production, the development will support up to 2,700 residents and a daily population of 6,000, and is poised to set a gold standard in sustainable living in the UAE, said a statement from Emerson.

InSinkErator’s food waste disposers reduce the amount of waste generated by an average family up to 40 per cent, it stated.

The waste disposers use only about one per cent or less of a household’s total water consumption and cost on average Dh5 to Dh10 ($1.3 to $2.7) a year in electric usage, also protecting kitchen plumbing with any residue finely ground before reaching the drain.

Mohamed Karam, a senior business development manager for the Middle East and Africa at InSinkErator said: "With the InSinkErator product range providing state-of-the-art waste disposal techniques and hygiene solutions, the development can truly fulfill its vision of becoming an international model of sustainable living."

Faris Saeed, the CEO of Diamond Developers, said: "We want Dubai to continue its progression as one of the world's greatest cities, and we will continue supporting this vision by providing suitable green infrastructure that ensures an environmentally socially and economically prosperous future for our communities."

"We will continue trying to meet and exceed all sustainable standards, and we trust that partners like InSinkErator will help us deliver in that mission," he stated.-TradeArabia News Service
