VPS donates $1m to Emirates Red Crescent

ABU DHABI, December 28, 2016

Abu Dhabi-based VPS Healthcare, an integrated healthcare provider, has donated a total of $1 million to the Emirates Red Crescent towards the latter’s ongoing campaign for Yemenis.

This comes in recognition of the Year of Giving, as declared by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, managing director, VPS Healthcare, handed over the cheque and letter of donation for medicines to Dr Mohammed Atiq Al Falahi, secretary general of Emirates Red Crescent.

Dr Al Falahi said: “VPS Healthcare has supported us in many of our initiatives for Yemen this year. It is overwhelming to see such a noble gesture on part of Dr. Shamsheer to come forward and help people in the time of need. We look forward to their continued support in all our initiatives and I am pleased to associate with an organization with strong humanitarian values.”

VPS Healthcare has always been empathetic to human suffering and has also signed an agreement with the Emirates Red Crescent to support their humanitarian activities in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, a statement said.

“We’ve always been in support with Red Crescent’s initiatives and this is just a mere contribution from our side. We are almost nearing 2017, the Year of Giving as declared by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and I look forward to many such opportunities to give back to the society in the best way possible,” said Dr Shamsheer.

“UAE is known to have always supported those in need regardless of their race, nationality, or age. The main focus of 2017 will be on strengthening the social responsibility of the private sector thereby giving us an opportunity to contribute back to the country and its people and am glad to see the private sector embracing this initiative,” he added. – TradeArabia News Service
