Work set to start on Bahrain medical complex

MANAMA, June 14, 2018

Bahraini authorities said work would soon begin on a BD1.7-million ($4.5 million) multiple sclerosis centre in the Muharraq region of the kingdom. The 100-bed facility, being developed as part of the Muharraq Medical Complex, is set for completion by mid-2020.

The Muharraq Medical Complex also includes a 85-bed maternity hospital and an elderly care centre, reported the BNA.

An agreement was signed by Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf and National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) chairman Farooq Youssef Almoayyed for the supervision of the construction of the medical project.

Under the agreement, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning will construct the medical facility on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

Al Khalaf said the project follows the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

“Work on the sclerosis centre, which will cover 800 sq m, is expected to be completed by mid-2020,” he added.
