Supreme Council for Environment to present key seminars

MANAMA, April 21, 2019

Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) will deliver two key seminars at the Gulf Property Show, which takes place in the kingdom from April 23 to 25 under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister of Bahrain.

The designated topics will outline the rules and regulations of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) licensing and the monitoring of reclamation and dredging projects.

Dr Mohamed Mubarak Bin Daina, chief executive of SCE, will lead the seminar looking at Environmental Impact Assessment licensing. The importance of the EIA, according to Dr Bin Daina, cannot be stressed enough.

“An EIA is a scientific study that ensures reducing environmental risks and impacts resulting from the implementation of development projects, and takes into account the environmental conditions and standards that must be provided when launching major development projects,” he statedd.

The Monitoring of Reclamation and Dredging Projects seminar will be led by Ali Abdulla Isa, senior environmental specialist, Biodiversity Directorate, Supreme Council for Environment.

SCE is a government entity in charge of the development of Bahrian’s future strategy for the environment and sustainable development, and following up on the implementation of this strategy with relevant ministries, agencies and institutions. The SCE’s mandate also includes protecting Bahrain’s natural habitat and human environment, ensuring the sustainability of its components, and preserving and developing its resources for future generations.

“The role of the SCE is increasingly vital for property developers who are looking to satisfy the environmental concerns of investors in real estate projects,” says Jubran Abdulrahman, managing director of Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions (HCE), the Gulf Property Show organiser. – TradeArabia News Service
