Global coronavirus death toll hits 50,000

MOSCOW, Russia, April 3, 2020

At least 50,000 people have died from the novel coronavirus Covid-19 across the world, according to data reported by Russian news agency Tass from the coronavirus-hit countries on Thursday.

Italy accounts for the biggest number of fatalities caused by coronavirus or complications from it at 13,915, the report said.

The other countries that have recorded a high death toll include Spain (10,003), the US (5,316), France (4,503), China (3,287), Iran (3,160), the UK (2,921), the Netherlands (1,339), Belgium (1,011) and Germany (1,001).

The number of people infected with the virus reached one million on Thursday, the Tass report said.
