Emirates Shipping nominated for key awards
Dubai, November 6, 2007
Emirates Shipping Line has been nominated successively for three coveted industry awards during October 2007, it has been revealed.
The awards include the “Container Shipping Line of the Year” of the Lloyds List Asia Awards, “Shipping Line of the Year” of the Supply Chain Asia-Logistics Award, and “Shipping Company of the Year” of the Lloyd’s List Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Shipping Awards. The awards recognise top achievers with excellent performance in the maritime industry across the region.
Soon after the company’s inception in 2006, Emirates Shipping Line has achieved solid business growth with eight services launched in 12 months providing a growth rate faster than the market and a widespread network spanning over 40 countries.
“We see an undeniable growth in the years ahead for the entire region in the Middle East, India and China,” said Emirates Shipping Line’s Senior Vice President for Middle East, Africa and Mediterranean Region Mohammed El Alfy.
“This region is also the core part of Emirates Shipping Line’s strategy. Since our inception, we have launched three long-haul weekly services focused on this area while continuing to review new opportunities in this area,” El Alfy added. “As around 90 per cent of the world’s trade is transported via shipping, our outlook for this part of the world continues to remain robust and optimistic.”
“Prior to the three award nominations this year, we have already won the Best Emerging Company in both Asia Logistics Awards held in Singapore and the Lloyd’s List Maritime Asia Awards held in Kuala Lumpur. The awards are testament of our customers’ recognition to Emirates Shipping Line’s high quality services in providing exceptional customer value, which aligns with our long-term commitment of the Line’s vision and standing,” said Line’s Senior Vice-President of Marketing Jamshed Safdar.
Taking heed of the growing momentum of the booming maritime trade in the Middle East, Emirates Shipping Line sponsored the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Award 2007 in the “Ship Finance Award” category held in Dubai in November. This category award is designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region.
“The sponsorship forms part of the company’s strategy in supporting the accolades in the region’s shipping community. It also help strengthening our presence in the industry,” said Safdar.
