Gulf Extrusions eyes EU market
Dubai

Gulf Extrusions, one of the largest aluminium extrusion plants in the Gulf, has announced its successful participation in the recently-concluded ‘Aluminium Essen 2008’ exhibition in Germany, underlining its focus on the European market.

Gulf Extrusions, a part of the Al Ghurair Group of Companies, produces profiles ranging from architectural sections to components for household items, AC grills and customised products. The company extrudes products of several European suppliers and companies under agreement.

During its participation in the premier exhibition for the aluminium industry, Gulf Extrusions received inquiries from several European markets, including Germany, France, UK, Holland and Spain, said a company official.

Gulf Extrusions had showcased a wide selection of aluminium profiles at 'Aluminium Essen 2008', including the biggest aluminium extruded profile in Asia and Africa that it supplied for the Index Tower project in Dubai.

The Gulf Extrusions team at Essen was led by Majid Al Ghurair, chief executive officer and Modar Al Mekdad, general manager, who were involved in discussions with several European companies to finalise business partnerships.

'This is the second time we are participating in this exhibition, which is one of the biggest events for the aluminium industry, and we are certainly pleased with the outcome. Gulf Extrusions has been focusing on the European market over the last few years, steadily building presence here,' Al Mekdad commented.

'Aluminium Essen 2008 presented the perfect platform for us to showcase our capabilities to the right target audience, while also offering numerous business networking opportunities,' he noted.

“We received a number of inquiries from various European markets and we will be finalizing a few deals in the coming months. Our goal is to be recognised as a top 10 extruding company globally within the next five years, and we are surely on course to achieve this,” he added.

Nearly 70 per cent of Gulf Extrusions' production is supplied to the domestic market to support the enormous construction projects in the UAE. The rest are exported to South East Asia, other GCC countries, Europe and Canada.-TradeArabia News Service
