Aramex supports Arab Fund for Arts and Culture

Dubai, December 4, 2008

Aramex is providing logistical support to the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), an independent initiative committed to empowering artists, authors and filmmakers across the region through grants, partnerships and advocacy for the arts.

Under the partnership, Aramex is providing express services for individuals and organisations applying for financial support under AFAC’s Grant Making program, which provides special grants for artistic and cultural projects.

Nurturing the development of the region’s thriving arts community, AFAC welcomed submissions from independent artists and cultural institutions pursuing various types of artistic ventures.

“With the help of Aramex, applicants were able to send their applications to AFAC from all over the world. Given that the number of submissions received this year is double that of last year, we recognise Aramex’s contribution to a good cause such as AFAC.” stated Fairooz Tamimi, AFAC's executive director.

For its part, Aramex has been a fervent supporter of education and innovation, continually aligning with organisations that are creating exciting opportunities for the next generation.

“Aramex is known for working with like-minded organisations and AFAC is a partner which nurtures talent and creativity in our communities, something we care deeply about,” says Raji Hatter, Aramex chief sustainability and compliance officer.

AFAC began its grant-making activities in 2007, providing $500,000 to twenty-nine projects. This year, AFAC is planning to grant $800,000 to six categories: independent film and video, visual arts, literature, theatre, music, as well as regional cultural exchanges.-TradeArabia News Service
