Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) was lauded for its contribution towards strengthening the local economy during the Careers Day 2010 expo being held at the Bahrain Training Institute (BTI).

Minister of Labour, Dr Majeed bin Mohsin Al Alawi, who visited the Alba stand at the Careers Day 2010 expo
praised the company for its major role in developing a national workforce.

"Alba has distinguished itself as one of the cornerstones of the national economy and an active partner in programmes initiated by the Ministry of Labour and the Bahrain Training Institute in regards to job recruitments and in nationalising the workforce," Dr Al Alawi remarked.

The Minister also called upon companies in Bahrain to undertake the steps Alba had taken in developing national human resources and supporting opportunities for their promotion and development.

He added that these steps contribute towards increased efficiency and productivity and help in improving the professional and living standards of its citizens.

Commenting on Alba’s support to Careers Day, Alba’s chief executive Laurent Schmitt said: “Alba has been known as one of the main supporters for training and development programmes in Bahrain. Over the past forty years, Alba has succeeded in enabling many Bahrainis to realise their potential and contribute towards improving Alba’s performance and that of other facilities in the industrial sector within Bahrain and outside."

"Our annual participation in the Careers’ Day has several goals. The most important being, the chance to , introduce students to workforce requirements in the local market, and presenting training and recruitment programmes that are presented by young Bahraini representatives from human resources and training departments in different companies."

"This will help them select the most suitable field depending on the market demands on workforce," Schmitt remarked.

Alba has implemented a number of training and recruitment programmes in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, including “Training for Bahrain” that provided hundreds of young and qualified Bahrainis with job opportunities in Alba and other companies, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
